No Mango update available for your Windows Phone yet?

Some people are frustrated that the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update has started rolling out to others, but is not being offered for their device.

Fortunately there is a workaround and we are happy to share it if you just can't wait to get Mango onto your handset. We have tried this successfully and are not aware of any downsides at this stage.

These are the steps:

1. Start the Zune Client 4.8
2. Go to ‘Settings’
3. Select ‘Phone’
4. Click ‘Update’
5. Wait about 1-2 seconds – now unplug your internet connection (for instance by unplugging the network cable to your PC)
6. Within a few seconds you should see an update available
7. Now reconnect internet
8. Progress with installing the update

Didn't work for me. I turn off my wireless quickly and it just spins on the loading screen. Turn it off too late and it shows that I am up to date.

Updated LG Optimus 7Q (C900K) successfully and all seems OK except the compass doesn't seem to function properly. Could this be because of the forced update? If so will it be possible to correct this?

it worked ok, mango is awesome!
but where is the super fast html5 browsing, it tried to test it and it was slow as hell

Worked fine for me albeit having to do 3 updates, as my version was NoDo. Running a Samsung Focus on Telecom NZ, the (clueless) smartphone network - so no help from them. Thanks.

Didnt work for me. It just said I was up to date with 7.0. I disconnected my Snap! Wireless connection to no avail. Any suggestions..?

Worked fine for HTC HD7 - From Nigeria.

Thise having issues, make sure you computer has no other connection through whcich Zune will be trying to make a connection. I encounted a similar issue. You have to make sure that by the time you are at step 4 above, your computer has a single conncectiononly (LAN, WiFi, all the lot - only one; woth internet connection), and then after the1-2secs disconnect it; hope this helps.
